At Verizon, Ron has been in Information Technology management for over 20 years and has managed groups of employees ranging from rather small groups (5-10 employees) up to groups as large as 100+ employees. Ron also served on the successful South Adams Sports Boosters Club during the 2003-2006 time period. As chair of the Berne Democratic Party, Ron coordinated the 2006 Berne Halloween Parade last fall.
Ron has enjoyed the opportunities and challenges he has been presented with as the Berne Democratic Party Chair the past nine (9) months and sees the District 4 City Council position he is a candidate for as an opportunity to “give back to” and support the city he loves. “Berne is the place I have chosen over the past 24 years since college graduation to live and raise a family in. Working in Fort Wayne during these years, I have repeatedly been asked by co-workers why I would not move to Fort Wayne and eliminate the long commute to and from work. I have explained many times to these co-workers that it is the people of Berne and the values of our fine city that have kept me close to home and why I would choose to drive 50+ miles each way to and from work instead of relocating closer to work.” In closing, “I am both honored and excited about being elected by the people for City Council in the 2007 Berne City election, I will do my very best to support all of the citizens of Berne and help make Berne an even better place to live in the future”.

Mike Poulson, (D)
City Council "At Large"

Michael Poulson was appointed by the Democratic Party in August of 2006 to the City Council to replace Mr. Don Burke, who resigned due to relocation reasons.

Michael Poulson was born in Bluffton, Indiana in 1955.  He attended and graduated from Southern Wells School System.  Mike was raised on a family farm and after graduation he attended the National Barber College in Indianapolis, and received his Barber License in 1976.  Mike has attended several different business management and marketing classes throughout the years at both IPFW an Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne.

Mike started his first Salon in 1981, in Berne and a second Salon in Hartford City in 1982.  Mike then sold his Salon in Hartford City the following year and for five years he was a Salon Trainer for two different product companies, working with a few of the industries best Icons.

Mike, married to Judy (Oman) since 1978, have a daughter, Lydia and a son Stuart.  They all have lived in Berne since 1986.  Mike is a past President of the Chamber of Commerce, has served on the MRE Cemetery Board, the South Adams Athletic Boosters and the South Adams Music Boosters.  Mike has also spent many years as a Coach for Berne's youth baseball and football programs.  Mike and his family attend The First Missionary Church, in Berne.

Mike's vision for the City of Berne is to continue with all of the projects at hand, the separation of sewer and water and in trying to make sure these projects are completed as successfully as possible for the Berne Citizens.  Along with that Mike would like to see the council meet with other entities of the city and hold a brainstorming session on the combined needs and wants of the city.  Using this information Mike believes we would be able to put together a plan for goals and actions for the City and so the council can base decisions on our combined city action plan.  Mike feels that we as a City have to be proactive not reactive.  This only comes from planning ahead.
